Free journalism workshop for teachers

The New River Writers Project, along with journalism professionals from the Roanoke Times, will be offering a summer workshop for middle and high school teachers responsible for teaching journalism. This workshop would be appropriate for teachers whose subject areas (English, Social Studies, History, Science, etc.) find a voice through journalism.

This five day course will run from 9am-noon. Each day will feature local journalism professionals who will give model presentations on their areas of expertise. Presentations outline a basic 10 week course in journalism that can be taken directly back into the classroom as is, or expanded upon as needed to be semester-long. (Upon completion of the workshop, participants will have the option to invite these speakers to their classes in the upcoming school year.)
